Portable waterjet cutting machine

Introduction

When the workpiece cannot come to the machine, the machine must go to the workpiece. WAMIT portable waterjet cutting machines replace the rigid gantry table with a lightweight rail system that clamps directly onto large metal plates, pipes, pressure vessels, and structural sections. The result is precision waterjet cutting at the job site, on the ship deck, or inside the factory — wherever the work is.

Key Features

  • Lightweight rail system – aluminium extrusion rails clamp magnetically or mechanically to the workpiece surface; no foundation required.
  • Self-propelled cutting head carriage – servo-driven carriage traverses the rail while the cutting head remains perpendicular to the material.
  • Compatible with standard WAMIT pumps – connect to any WAMIT direct-drive or intensifier pump via standard HP hose.
  • Battery or corded control unit – handheld pendant or laptop-based CNC control.
  • Cuts any direction – straight cuts, curves, and holes — programmed via DXF file or manual input.
  • Compact transport package – entire system packs into two carrying cases; one person can set up in under 45 minutes.

Typical Applications

  • Ship hull plate replacement – cut and fit new hull sections without drydocking or moving the vessel.
  • Pressure vessel nozzle cutting – cut precision openings in the vessel wall on-site.
  • Pipeline spool fabrication – cut pipe flanges and branch connections in the field.
  • Bridge and structural steel modification – cut gusset plates, bearing pads, and reinforcement without repositioning large assemblies.
  • Nuclear and hazardous decommissioning – remote-controlled cutting minimises operator exposure.
