AC5 axis waterjet cutting machine

WAMIT AC5 axis waterjet cutting machine

Introduction

The WAMIT AC5 series adds two rotary axes (A — tilt, C — rotation) to the standard 3-axis platform. The cutting head can tilt up to ±60° from vertical, enabling bevel cuts, countersinks, weld-prep profiles, and true 3D contour cutting — all in a single setup without refixturing. This makes AC5 the natural choice for aerospace panels, automotive stampings, architectural cladding, and precision die work.

When to Choose AC5 Over 3-Axis

Requirement 3-Axis
Square edge cuts
Bevel / chamfer cuts
Countersink holes
Weld-prep profiles (V, K)
3D contour cutting
Tapered wall cutting
Price per machine Lower

Key Features

  • A/C rotary head – A-axis tilt ±60°; C-axis continuous 360° rotation — fully interpolated with X, Y, Z.
  • Dynamic taper compensation – software automatically compensates for the natural taper angle in the waterjet for square-side cuts without manual adjustment.
  • 5-axis simultaneous CNC – all five axes interpolate in real time, enabling smooth curved bevel profiles.
  • Tool-centre-point control (TCP) – the cutting point remains fixed in space as the head tilts — no offset recalculation required.
  • Rigid A/C head assembly – backlash-free worm gear drive maintains angular accuracy to ±0.1°.

Typical Applications

  • Aerospace structural panels – titanium and aluminium panels cut to net shape with bevel edges for rivet-ready assembly.
  • Automotive body stampings – weld-prep V-grooves on ultra-high-strength steel flanges.
  • Architectural aluminium cladding – mitred corners and complex 3D façade profiles.
  • Precision dies and tooling – tapered die cavities and draft-angle surfaces.
  • Thick composite parts – CFRP and fibreglass cut with compensated taper for tight-tolerance assembly fits.
