WAMIT 3-Axis CNC Waterjet Cutting Machines — Precision Flat-Bed Cutting for Metal, Stone, and Glass
Introduction
WAMIT 3-axis waterjet cutting machines are flat-bed CNC systems that move the cutting head in X, Y, and Z axes. The Z-axis keeps the cutting head at the correct standoff distance from the material surface — critical for maintaining cut quality on materials of varying thickness. These machines are suited to fabricators, stone-processing workshops, glass processors, and general-purpose job shops cutting a wide range of flat sheet material.
Product Line
| Series | Table Size |
| Integral (compact) | 1,500 × 1,500 mm |
| Separate (standard) | 2,000 × 3,000 mm |
| Heavy-duty split | Up to 4,000 × 10,000 mm |
| Custom / special config. | To customer requirement |
Key Features
- CNC control system – WAMIT proprietary controller with Windows-based CAD/CAM software; imports DXF, DWG, PLT, AI files.
- Linear guide rails – precision ground, with predictive lubrication system for consistent positioning accuracy.
- Servo motor drives – closed-loop feedback for positioning accuracy of ±0.1 mm on standard models.
- Stainless-steel water tank – catches abrasive and water; integrated abrasive settling zone for easy cleanout.
- Pneumatic abrasive control – on/off abrasive feed controlled by the CNC program — no manual intervention during cutting.
- Dual cutting head option – available on larger tables to double throughput on identical parts.
- Collision protection – motorised Z-axis with breakaway mount protects the cutting head if a workpiece shifts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between 3-axis and 5-axis waterjet cutting?
A 3-axis machine moves in X, Y, and Z. The cutting head is always perpendicular to the table. A 5-axis (AC5) machine also tilts and rotates the head, allowing bevel cuts, countersinking, and complex 3D shapes. If you only cut flat parts with square edges, 3-axis is the cost-effective choice.
Q: Do I need an abrasive system to cut metal?
Yes. Pure-water cutting works for soft materials (foam, rubber, food). Metal, stone, glass, and composites require garnet abrasive mixed into the jet. Our machines come standard with the abrasive feed system.
Q: Can the machine cut parts from a DXF file?
Yes. The WAMIT FlowCut software imports DXF, DWG, PLT, and AI files directly. You can also draw simple shapes within the software itself.
